Pre-Mega Christmas celebrated

PASIGHAT, Dec 16: Organized by Deepak Nabam Ministries in Christ, Itanagar, Pre-Mega Christmas was celebrated at Yapgo Prayer Center and Destitute Home, Pasighat today with much enthusiasm and great fervor.

Attending the celebration, Education Minister Bosiram Siram greeted the community and conveyed his gratitude for their outstanding devotion and sincerity in services, rendered to the people and society as a whole. He appreciated the immense contributions of the Christian community in imbibing peace, tranquility, harmony, social development and for universal brotherhood in the society. Siram advised them to big dream and work hard for achieving the desired goal in life treading the doctrine of Christianity in true spirit.

Earlier, Chief Councilor, PMC Denong Tamuk opined that the community is working tirelessly for spiritual and physical development of the people with a missionary zeal. Christianity is not a religion but an intimate relationship with God, he added in his brief deliberation.

Christmas message was delivered by Rev. MK Babul and Rev. Deepak Nabam. The duo spoke on why Christmas was celebrated and what were the sign(s) that was associated with the birth of Christ. They quoted parables of Bible and advised the people to be spiritual, dedicated and devoted in life and to work for the needy people.

Kaling Dai (ZPC), host of officers, leaders and believers were present on the occasion.

Hunli-Desali PR leaders meet CM

ITANAGAR, Dec 16: The PRI members of Hunli-Desali Anchal Block of Lower Dibang Valley district led by its ZPM Mama Miso and accompanied by Youth Congress leader Mutchu Mithi met Chief Minister Nabam Tuki yesterday and submitted a three point memorandum.

Their demands include maintenance of water tank and water supply and pipeline for Hunli Desali block, increase in allocation of funds for cardamom under horticulture department and posting of regular headmaster and JT/AT for Govt. Secondary School, Desali.

In a release, it claimed that the CM immediately directed the concerned HoDs to take necessary action at the earliest. Meanwhile, the PRI leaders also met the general manager of Arunachal Pradesh State Transport, Abu Tayeng and requested him to replace the existing vehicle for Roing-Hunli route for immediate restoration of services claiming that there has been no transport service for the area for the past three months.

 

Biswakarma wins gold for Arunachal

ITANAGAR, Dec 16: Ranjit Biswakarma, a member of Arunachal Pradesh School Taekwondo team bagged a gold medal under 38 K.G. weight category on the 4th day of the 59th National School Games (Taekwondo) which is under way in Rajnandgoan, Chhattishgarh.

This is the first time any Arunachal player got Gold Medal in National School Games after revival of School Games in Arunachal Pradesh by the Directorate of School Education. The Director of School Education Tapang Taloh, the President, Arunachal Taekwondo Association Kipa Kaha and many sports lovers congratulated Ranjit Biswakarma for wining first gold medal and  his team leader Tara Tagin and Coach Bini Chukam for their successful mission.

 

'Solve school problems'

ITANAGAR, Dec 16: Anchal Samity members of Leporiang along with Gram Panchayat members  and the members of Leporiang Panchayat Youth Welfare Society inspected the various schools of its area on Dec 12  and 13. After inspection the PR leaders and the society requested the authority to pay heed towards the schools which are plagued with poor infrastructure and lack of subject teachers.

 

Advocates get Bar room

ITANAGAR, Dec 16: The practicing advocates in the Courts of District and Session, Western Session Division, Chief Judicial Magistrate and Judicial Magistrate, Yupia have been allotted a Bar Room at the Campus of District and Session Court, Yupia for the convenience in their practice. The Judge of District & Session, Western Division Budi Habung inaugurated the Papum Pare District Bar Association Room in presence of Judge, Chief Judicial Magistrate Hirendra Kashyap.

Speaking on the occasion, Budi Habung suggested the  advocates to work hard to guide the court for proper delivery of Justice.  He assured cooperation for proper accommodation in near future.  Kashyap suggested the advocates to maintain dignity of advocates and assured to support for the development of Bar room.

Senior advocate Muk Pertin   advised them on how to practice law in the courts and importance of lawyer in the society.

KVK training prog for  Govt officials

ITANAGAR, Dec 16: A one-day training programme was held for extension personnel of District Horticulture Office and District Fisheries Development Office, Lower Subansiri district on 16th December at KVK office campus, Ziro. The subject matter Specialists of KVK delivered lectures on various topics. Lectures delivered on Vermi composting by Yowa Nunu SMS, Agronomy, on 'Water quality management in a freshwater pond and Integrated fish farming in high altitude region' by Girish Nainwal, SMS (Fisheries) and on IPM by Mudang Tana, SMS, Plant Protection. Altogether 15 extension functionaries benefitted from the training.

 

District  level jury award for 14 teachers  

ITANAGAR, Dec 16:  14 teachers including 3 lady teachers were awarded with the 3rd District Level Jury Award in recognition to their outstanding performance as teachers in shaping the future of children. The Award is being instituted  by Deputy Director of School Education, Seppa in collaboration with Arunachal Teachers Association, East Kameng District Unit and  the Award giving ceremony was held at Auditorium Hall of Govt Higher Secondary School Seppa on Saturday. The programe was attended, among others, by A Tamut Superintendent of Police and Likha Sampu deputy SPD SSA Rajya Mission.

IMC mourns death of Kipa Babu's mother

ITANAGAR, Dec 16: The Chief Councillor of Itanagar Municipal Council (IMC) Higio Aruni, Chief Municipal Executive Officer, Bokar Basar, Likha Suraj, Municipal Secretary and the entire family of Itanagar Municipal Council condoled the sad and untimely demise of Kipa Menia, mother of Deputy Chief Councillor of IMC Kipa Babu, who died on Dec 12 after a tragic road accident near her residence at Pappu Nalah. They conveyed deep sense of condolence to Kipa Babu, and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

 

Winter vacation

ITANAGAR, Dec 16:  The Itanagar Permanent Bench of the Gauhati High Court will remain closed from 24th to 31 December 2013 on account of Winter Vacation cum Christmas holidays. However the office will function for two days on 26th and 27th December.

 

Association threatens to close road

ITANAGAR, Dec 16: Claiming that the local workers are yet to be paid for the work done from Pilla to Ambam village road under Silsango circle, the All Silsango Circle Youth Association has decided to close the mentioned road from December 19 next till the payment is done.

In a release, it said, the bill payment of the said work is already done by the PWD department, Sagalee Division, its executing agency but the local public is being deprived of their labour charge.

 

Revival Church at Nari inaugurated

RUKSIN, Dec 16: Amidst the preparation to hold Merry Christmas, the believers of Nari village in East Siang on Sunday got a newly built 'Christian Revival Church'. The Church was declared opened by Rev from Arunachal Christian Revival Church Council, Takin Taggu in presence of large number of religious leaders and  believers.

Opening the Church, Rev Takin Taggu urged the believers to make themselves truly dedicated in the religious acts and inspire others to take the right path. Taggu suggested the Christians to love each other and forgive one's misdeed. He dedicated the church to the believers for their dedicated religious activities.

Rev Inya Bomjen said that one can't be true Christian until he or she fully believes in God. The octogenarian believers exhorted the young to imbibe the Christmas spirit for transformation of their moral character.

Among others, Lower Siang unit ACRYA secretary Jumto Riba and other women leaders also spoke on various religious issues.

The plot for the church was donated by Yijum Riba and the building construction work was duly supervised by Kanta Bomjen.

Earlier, All Arunachal Christian Revival Youth Association (ACRYA) president Domar Bomjen briefed the emergence of the church at the village.

Hundreds take part in rally against prevailing law & order

ITANAGAR, Dec 16:  Expressing grave concern over the rising crime rate, atrocities against women and prevailing law and order situation at Capital complex in particular and the state as whole, hundreds of people today hit the street as its 3rd phase of mass protest rally organized by the Arunachal Civil Society (ACS) against the state government's alleged failure to improve law and order problem in the state. The protest march started from Akash Deep Itanagar and culminated near CM's Bungalow.

Frustration and anger of the participants in the rally, most of them were  from business community, was clearly visible through their facial expression as they shouted slogan and demanded the authority to ensure their safety in working places. "Crime at capital is innumerable and rising day by day, even a bank can be looted any time" said a protester.

Speaking to media persons on sideline of protest march, ACS Chairman Patey Tayum said that the chief minister should ensure the security and safety of every individual in the state.  Tayum claimed that despite repeated pleas the chief minister has not initiated any step yet. "It seems CM has no concern for the people of the state" ACS chairman alleged. He further condemned the authority for the way it has managed the Woman Police Station Itanagar. "It is shameful to see that Woman Police Station is run by donation, every chair, table and computer are donated by people" he claimed. Tayum submitted ten-point memorandum to the chief minister which was received by Chief Secretary SK Paliwal on chief minister's behalf at Banquet Hall.

In its representation ACS demanded immediate installation of high definition CCTV camera with capturing capacity of   200-300 range at every strategic location and replacement of existing CCTVs.  The society further demanded establishment of three more women police stations in Capital complex and recruitment of one hundred new lady constable and 10 lady inspector to boost the current strength. It also sought the authority to create emergency help line for private and government banks. It demanded regular patrolling of security force at banking areas in the capital. Other demands included upgradation of woman police station infrastructure, extension of police remand from 12 days to 15 days to the accused. ACS threatened to launch its 4th phase of mass agitation if their demands are not met within one month.

 

 

Women take to streets against social evils

ITANAGAR, Dec 16: Thousands of women from all walks of life under the banner of Nampong Border Trade and Business Association, (NBTBA) Women wing, Nampong took out a peaceful rally on Dec 14 in protest against the prevailing social evils like opium/drug addiction, alcoholism, gambling etc.  Started from Nampong general ground, the rally passed through the town and nearby villages while the  participants shouted the slogan like "Enough is Enough" and  "Say No to Drugs." Later the rally ended near the Machum village where large number of public gathered  and  expressed their solidarity with the organizer.  

Speaking on the occasion, NBTBA woman wing president Leena Chanlik Mossang and other senior members appealed the woman  folk and general public  to raise voice against the social evils which hampers the  development of the  society. Leena also requested the local administration and general public to extend a helping hand to free the society from the clutches of  social evils.

Apart from Leena Chanlik Mossang, general secretary Phennem Tikhak, Vice president Nonkhip Mossang and Assistant General secretary Umatilu Tikhak appealed all the youth to give up bad habits and play a pivotal role in the process of making a developed and healthy society, a society free from all bad and evil practices.

The rally ended with a pledge to fight continue against the social evils.  

 

 

APSCW condemns rape, seeks status reports

ITANAGAR, Dec 16: Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) strongly condemned the rape of a 7 years old minor girl at Yachuli and alleged rape of a middle-aged woman at Papu Nallah, Naharlagun. The APSCW has taken a suo moto cognizance of the case and also has sought Status Report of the two cases from the Superintendent of Police of Papum Pare and Lower Subansiri District.

The APSCW appealed the concerned authorities to take stringent action against the accused persons and to book them under relevant section of the law. The Commission further appealed the State Government to provide compensation to the victims for rehabilitation as per the rules of the Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation Scheme 2011.

Vehemently condemning the recent rape and murder of young girl at Deomali and rape of 7 years old at Yachuli, the Arunachal Pradesh Women's Welfare Society (APWWS) said that repeated incident of rape and murder of innocent lives is increasing day by day.

"In fact, till date many cases are reported and arrests are also made, but the rate of conviction of these kinds of heinous crimes is not at all satisfactory. The real concern for us at this point of time is the investigation procedure takes so much time, that the culprit obtain bail on various pretext and roam freely, giving indirect encouragement to the criminals." The Society requested the State Govt. that a forensic lab be immediately set up in the State and the various recommendations made by the APSCW on heinous crimes  be taken seriously. It appealed the administration and police department take effective action so that justice is delivered to the victims at the earliest.

Meanwhile, APWWS condemned the physical attack upon the Asstt. Professor of D.N College, Gyati Aruna Lod, while performing exam duty. Stringent action should be taken against the  wrong doer, who has violated the norms of exams and misbehaved with own teaching community, the Society said. The organization further expressed its deep concern on increasing indiscipline and intolerance on the part of young students and youths of today.

 

 

Attack on college teacher condemned

ITANAGAR, Dec 16: The Apatani Students Union and Apatani Students Union Capital Complex Itanagar today strongly condemned the physical assault on Assistant Professor Dr Aruna Gyati Lod, department of Political Science Dera Natung Govt College Itanagar by an examinee on 14th Dec when the Assistant Professor was performing her duty. The unions termed the incident as act of coward and urged the authority to give exemplary punishment to examinee for unruly behavior. The members of Apatani Career Guidance Forum (ACGF) also vehemently condemned the dastardly act of physically assault on Dr. Aruna Gyati Lod, Asstt. Professor, Dera Natung Govt College by a student during the examination session. "Such unruly behavior and act on a teacher will demoralize the effective functioning of their duty, hamper the over all development of society directly or indirectly and hallowed relation of student-teacher," the Forum said. The Forum appealed all students to restrain from such activities, and rather focus on their studies to become a good citizen of the state. Further, request the administration to curb such menaces and identify the culprit and impose exemplarily punishment without any prejudice.

The  Bomdila unit of APCTA  strongly condemned the  assault on Dr. (Mrs.) Aruna Gyati Lod,  Assistant Professor of Political Science, DNGC.  "Such a ghastly inhuman act is a shame to the civilized society and if not checked in time may defeat the cause of creating a knowledge society," the  organization said. The association also urged the University  authorities and  higher authorities  of education department  to intervene immediately and initiate strong disciplinary action against  the wrong doer.

 

 

World class craft museum in the offing in state

NEW DELHI, Dec 16: S S Gupta, Development Commissioner, Handicraft Union ministry of Textiles has assured a delegation of the Arunachal Pradesh Bamboo Resource and Development Agency (APBRDA) to establish a world class state  Bamboo and Cane Craft museum and Craft Haat in Arunachal Pradesh. This assurance came when APBRDA chairman Tanyong Tatak and vice chairman Yora Tagung called  on the  commissioner at New Delhi today. Gupta further said this project will have Bamboo Museum, showroom for sales promotion and an exhibition area with capacity of 40 stalls for local artisans.

 Another project is  establishment of Handicraft Training Centres in each district of the 17 district in Arunachal Pradesh.  It will provide training to artisans in every district and will lead for the development of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, according to a release.

ICAR Arunachal Centre wins 4th e-North East Award

ITANAGAR, Dec 16: ICAR Research Complex for NEH region, Arunachal Pradesh Centre, Basar, West Siang has won the 4th e-North East Award 2013 held at Banquet Hall here on December 13 last.

Dr. Rupankar Bhagawati, Joint Director of the Centre made presentation of the project and become winner to receive the award under the category 'e-livelihood & enterprises' for "Integrated Agro-met Advisory Services".

The service aims at timely preparing and delivering of weather forecast based Agromet advisories to farmers of seventeen districts of Arunachal Pradesh and other stakeholders including officials of line departments and KVKs since 2008. It covered more than 5000 farmers across the state. The major activities are data recording, data analysis, making of Agromet advisory bulletin of crops and livestock related information beneficial to the farmers and subsequent sending through short message service (SMS) through Micromax datacard and www.farmer.gov.in.

 

 

Tuki lauds NACWS for organizing cultural festival

NEW DELHI, Dec 16: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has extended his best wishes for conduction of the maiden 'Nyishi Art & Cultural Festival' being held at Nyikum Niya Ground at Nirjuli.

In a message from New Delhi, where he had to rush this morning on an urgent official engagement, Tuki appreciated the Nyishi Art and Cultural Welfare Society (NACWS) for organizing the festival - first such in the state - and expressed hope that the maiden celebration will become a benchmark for festivals with similar themes in the future.

"In today's world... when the younger generation is being alienated from their traditional roots and culture by global influences, such festivals have become a necessity to bridge the gap and correlate with our culture that we are so much proud of," Tuki observed.

He hailed NACWS for its visionary and futuristic endeavour that would go a long way in promoting and exposing the rich art and culture of the Nyishi tribe and extended cooperation to every such endeavour.  "I believe the events conducted during the festival like folk and war dance competitions, symposium on 'Challenges and opportunities before budding Nyishi artists', felicitation of eminent Nyishi filmmakers, singers, directors and lyricists, etc will boost Nyishi culture and the morale of those who are sincerely and selflessly working to zealously preserve the rich heritage of Nyishi culture," Tuki said.

The Chief Minister, however, regretted that he could not be personally present during the festival due to an urgent call of obligation that needed his presence in the national capital.

"I may not be physically present in the festival but emotionally I am always there. My sincere wishes and personal support will always be there for all such endeavours," he added.

 

 

2nd FC and PR leaders hold meeting on revenue generation

ZIRO, Dec 16: The 2nd State Finance Commission held a meeting with Panchayat leaders of three districts of Kurung Kumey, Upper Subansiri and Lower Subansiri in Conference Hall, Hapoli today to obtain suggestions regarding revenue generation in Panchayat segments, for self-sustenance and real empowerment of Panchayat Raj in the state.  

Addressing the gathering the Chairman of 2nd Finance Commission Fantry Mein Jaswal, who presided over the meeting, stated that the mandate of this commission is to locate the sources of state revenue and to find out  the mechanism to share the revenue with Panchayat institutions. In the meeting many suggested that royalty that State Government gets from mega projects should be shared  with panchayats where such projects are being carried out. It was pointed out by ZPC Upper Subansiri that in his meeting with the Centre, a proposal has been made to appoint Junior Engineer along with a clerk for every three Anchal Samity so that effective work can be carried out by Panchayat Leaders.

Secretary 2nd State FC Dani Salu  drew attention to the crucial role of Panchayat leaders in Social Audit so that any government schemes and projects are carried out effectively in their area. Everyone in the meeting, including Zilla Parishad Members and Anchal Chairpersons and Anchal Samity members gave in their suggestions  while highlighting problems in implementing ideas of other states in this area.

Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Marny Ete also attended the meeting. Zilla Chairpersons of Lower Subansiri Hage Kobing and that of Daporijo, Sushil Nalo who is also the chairman of State Panchayat Raj Coordination Committee attended the meeting and gave their valuable inputs in suggesting ways of generating revenue and they also briefed about the problems in implementing and realizing the revenue in tribal society especially in their districts. Let law take its own course of action: 21-KIPM

ITANAGAR, Dec 16: The claim of Koloriang MLA cum Parliamentary secretary's involvement in the burning down of electoral roll revision documents of entire Kurung-Kumey District by 21-Koloriang Assembly Constituency Native People's Forum (KACNPF) as baseless has been strongly rebutted.

The 21-Koloriang Indigenous People Movement (21-KIPM) in a release while reacting to the claim by KACNF said that the statement reflects intention to criminalize national security.

The arrest of Koloriang MLA is a part of govt. action against his alleged involvement based on the substantial and circumstantial evidence. In this regard, no any particular political party or any individual or organization can be blamed. Let the law be given a free and fair hand so that proper investigation is made and all the accused are brought under law, it added.

The repeated allegation of abnormality against 34-Pani polling station is a matter of concern as the entire process of hearing was conducted under the direct supervision of ERO, Koloriang. The total number of electorates, finalized under 34-Pani polling station was accepted by the ERO, Koloriang after a thorough scrutiny of individual identification and requisite documents and 24 hours information were collected by DEO Koloriang from his deputed officer at site which should not be the focal point in regard to burning down of the E-roll paper. While observing the situation, the E-roll observer found no such discrepancies and the same was reported to CEO, Itanagar with wide media publication on November 19, it stated demanding action against the president of 21-Koloriang Assembly Constituency Native People's Forum (KACNPF) for his misleading statement.

Also not accepting the statement of president BCC, Koloriang who while claiming inclusion of Chakma-Hajong in the electoral had expressed that there was action from the authorities in this regard; the 21- KIPM demanded his immediate resignation from the post on moral ground, adding that the PCC president should expel him from the primary membership of the congress party.

 

 

AEKSU appeals Govt to solve school problems

ITANAGAR, Dec 16: The All East Kameng District Students Union (AEKSU) sought the authority concerned to solve various problems being faced by the schools in East Kameng, particularly at Mebua, Pakoti and Pabua.

It is worth mentioning here that a team of AEKSU headed by its President Karbia Sonam and General Secretary Arjun Flago along with executive members had visited the schools in aforesaid area to take stock of the situation on 7th December last.

After visiting the area, the AEKSU in its report submitted to deputy director school education (DDSE) informed that during their visit to Govt Secondary School Pakoti it was found that girls hostel of the said school is facing scarcity of drinking water. It also mentioned that out of seventeen teachers only four were at school during their visit.

AEKSU further informed that Govt ME School Mebua is running without boys' hostel and hostellers were accommodated at class room. The similar problems and scarcity was found at Govt ME School Pabua.  Union also expressed concerned over the limited  foodgrains served to the hostellers in said schools saying that concerned fair price shop has allocated limited ration to the hostellers. Further AEKSU requested the authority to meet the requirement of the said school so that students can study without much perturb.

 

 

D.C inaugurates 45th Annual Sports & School Day Celebration

BOMDILA, Dec 16: The 45th Annual Sports & School day celebration of Government Higher Secondary School, Bomdila was today inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner AK Singh at Buddha stadium, Bomdila.

Addressing the students divided into four houses viz- Flamingo, Kingfisher, Hornbill & Nightingale, DC Singh impressed upon the students that there is no short-cut to success. Ambition, discipline and hard work are the keys to success, he said.

Underscoring the importance of games and sports especially in the formative ages, he called upon the students to actively take part in all the physical and co-curricular activities for a balanced and all-round development of knowledge and personality in addition to the primary task of gaining bookish knowledge. Taking advantage of the occasion, Singh also urged the Teachers to dutifully discharge their duties in grooming the young minds and their latent talents upon who rest the future of tomorrow. A wrong precedence or a faulty practice of the teachers might become the reason for degeneration of the students and a weak, immoral and irresponsible society, he added.

Earlier, DDSE M Kadu in his address sought for radical changes in the pattern of the sports & school day celebrations in the district to enable smooth functioning of the academic session and also to ensure that literary, physical and other co-curricular activities are given due importance and scope for growth.

SFAC's awareness campaign on venture capital assistance scheme

ITANAGAR, Dec 16: As a part of the sixth phase of its awareness campaign, Small Farmer Agri-Business Consortium (SFAC), a Govt of India establishment is organizing a series of camp on "Venture Capital Assistance Scheme (VCAS) to Agripreneurs of Arunachal Pradesh.

This time SFAC organizes camps at 4 districts of Arunachal Pradesh, namely, Papum Pare, Lower Subansiri, Kurung Kumey and Tirap.

The Scheme offers Venture Capital to set up agri-business projects and Project Development Facility (PDF) to assist producer, producer groups/organizations, and units in Agri-Export Zones and agriculture graduates in preparation of economically viable Detailed Project Report (DPR).

The camps are being attended by Department of Agriculture, Department of Horticulture, Department of Fisheries, Department of Forest, NGOs & SHG, Entrepreneurs, Bankers, NABARD, Krishi Upaj Mandi Samiti etc.

According to the Managing Director, SFAC, Pravesh Sharma, "The aim is to facilitate setting up of agri-business ventures in close association with banks. To catalyze private investments in setting up of agri-business projects and, thereby providing assured market to producers for increasing rural income & employment."

Thrust is given to strengthen backward linkages of agri-business projects with producers in order to assist farmers, producer groups and agriculture graduates to enhance their participation in value chain through Project Development Facility (PDF).

 

 

State karate team for National School Games

ITANAGAR, Dec 16: Arunachal Karate-Do Association (AKA) has selected 28 karatekas and two officials for the 59th National School Games to be held in New Delhi from January 2 to 8, 2014.

The selection trial was conducted by a team of AKA headed by Chief Technical Director Sensei S Deben Sharma, Directors Sensei L. Marik and Tai Hipik at SAI SAG Centre, Naharlagun on December 14 under the supervision of L.Sokun Singh, Youth Welfare Officer, Directorate of School Education.

Altogether 250 students from various school participated in the selection trial .

Corruption has become a fashion

Dear Editor,

Through your esteemed column I would like to express few words regarding the corruption prevailing in our state. Corruption is not confined to any state or country; day by day it’s becoming a global phenomenon. India is branded as one of the most corrupt nation in the world and Arunachal is accounted under the corrupt state. The  words like chai-pani is the most popular words used in Indian Govt. offices.  Misuse of official position is rampant in every Govt Deptt. The partiality done by most of the Ministers and MLA to grass-root leaders is quite common. These people provide all kind of advantages to their supporter which cause frustration among the unemployed youth who become victim of this partiality. Every officers and politician decision is busy in making illegal money. Bureaucratic corruption cannot be tackled unless political corruption is cleansed. The recruitment process is never done on merit basis and back door entry is quite common in Arunachal. In rural poverty alleviation programme the actual poor beneficiaries hardly get benefit from the centrally sponsored scheme. Who eats up money in between remains mystery forever?

Lack of transparency in public offices leads to corruption. Govt should create a grievances cell in every dept to hear the voice of common poor people. The only way to stop this corruption is that those in authority should understand their  moral responsibility towards the duty.

All section of the society should be equally treated before law and everyone should enjoy equal protection of the law of land. Today it seems that for affluent people law can be broken and it only strongly applies on poor people.

Now a day’s corruption has become a fashion. Pay in black for kerosene, buy pirated cassette for movie, give the bribe and get the job, give the bribe and take the fake bills, FPS licenses holder openly selling the rice in market with sky rocketing price, president/secretary gets cheque free of cost in the name of society etc. As a rational citizen of the state, I appeal my fellow Arunachalees to join this global war against corruption. Let’s stamp out this evil from our society and from the state. Let us make an Arunachal a land of rising sun not a land of corruption state.  JAI HIND.

One year of Nirbhaya incident

India has never been the same again, since a 23-year-old physiotherapy student was gang-raped in a moving bus in the national capital New Delhi exactly a year ago. The girl died few days later, but the emotional scar that the brutal assault on the night of December 16, 2012, left on an outraged nation is yet to heal. The gang-rape triggered street protests, murmurs of which are still felt across the country. It also led to a fresh set of stringent laws against crimes against women.

But has the upheaval that followed the Delhi gang-rape made the women any safer in India? The answer will be big no. The incident of sexual assault and rape has not come down. In fact high profile sexual assault charges leveled on founder editor of Tehelka magazine Tarun Tejpal and Retired Supreme Court judge AK Ganguly by their sub-ordinates have shocked the nation. Even in the state like ours which was once known as safest place for women, the rape incident has been rising at alarming rate. Just a week ago, a 7 year old girl was raped at Joram village. Likewise  numerous case of rape incident have been reported from various parts of state in the last few years. Many citizen believes that new rape law framed by Union Govt. will have strong impact. But the  big question is whether framing of strong law will bring down the incident of sexual assault in the country? Some may say yes, while others might differ. However there is no doubt that society as a whole has to take lead in order to wipe out such heinous crime.
